English as a Second Language classes teach people who are new to our country or who have not yet learned English to understand, speak, read and write the language. Skills used in daily life are emphasized in all classes. RIRAL offers six levels of ESL instruction (Beginner through Advanced), giving students the opportunity to build the critical language skills they need to meet their goals.

ESL classes prepare students to live, work and study in the United States. As ESL students advance, they may transition into our adult basic and adult secondary education classes, college transition, a job training program or employment. Classes are offered day and evening, in person and online.
